Our favorite summer events include:

  1. Boalsburg Memorial Day: May 27, 2024. Boalsburg, PA, is a small village with a big claim to fame: it is the birthplace of Memorial Day. The Boalsburg Memorial Day Celebration includes “A Day in Towne,” with food, music, craft vendors, historical reenactments, car show, tour of the Boalsburg Heritage Museum, services in the Boalsburg cemetery, a 3.8 mile run/walk and parade and carnival hosted by the Boalsburg Fire Company, featuring rides, games, food, and entertainment.  The Boalsburg Memorial Day Festival is a great opportunity to experience a slice of American history, celebrate the true meaning of Memorial Day and enjoy a day of fun in this vibrant community.
  2. Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts: July 11-14, 2024 is held on the streets on downtown State College. Founded in 1967 by the State College Chamber of Commerce and Penn State University’s College of Arts and Architecture, this festival includes Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition, performances on outdoor and indoor stages, a banner competition, Children & Youth Day, a juried gallery exhibition, and street painting artists-in-action. The Central PA Tasting Trail offers festival-goers a local craft beverage tasting experience. Approximately 125,000 people visit the Festival each year.
  3. People’s Choice Festival: July 11-14, 2024, Grange Fair Grounds, Centre Hall, PA.  The People’s Choice Festival is a four-day event featuring arts and crafts vendors, entertainment, educational activities for children, a spectacular food court, and more! It’s one of the largest and most family-friendly arts festivals in central Pennsylvania – attracting more than 110,000 people.  This year the  Festival features nearly 200 artists, about two dozen food vendors, and 40 acts on the two stages.
  4. Grange Fair: August 16-24, 2024  The Grange Fair is an annual fair and camping event held in Centre Hall, PA each year since 1874. It is the last remaining tenting fair held in the U.S. Generations of local families have been attending the fair, many camping in the iconic canvas tents.  Agricultural demonstrations and livestock exhibits are major attractions.  The fair also includes carnival rides, games, crafts, and food trucks serving up some of our traditional Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine.  My favorite event at the fair is the Draft Horse Show.  The show features single drivers up to 8 horse hitches of matching draft horses of several breeds, Belgians, Percherons, Clydesdales and Shires just to name a few.  Come experience the power and beauty of these animals, admission is free.
